Texture Packs A texture pack is a file that is used to change the in-game textures of blocks, items, mobs and other things. They are usually zip files that have various PNG images in them and a pack.txt. The default resolution for packs is 16×16 (measured pixels in block height and width). Anything larger is called ‘HD’ and requires a patcher to run. Official support for texture packs was added in Alpha 1.2.2.

Ok, here are some texture packs I like, and I am a girl, so some may be cutsy and pink. Mostly they are clean, modern and straight-edged, and one is my very own (almost) creation.

This is my texture pack, and I made it, I didn’t customize it, like you can on Painterly, and I made it on Paint.NET, which took ages. But anyway, it’s not finished, and I’ll change it as soon as I can after the updates. I started with Girlcraft, which is listed below, and worked with that, but I took the water and lava from another texture pack as well. It glitches on my mac when you go into fancy mode and I am trying fix that (I think I have), but it might work and comment below if it doesn’t.

This one is called Good Morning Craft, and I absolutely love it! It is very smooth and cute, and although the textures seem simple there is an underlying quirkiness about it. It is made by Minecraft Forums member, Whiskers (a.k.a Louis Durrant). Well done Louis, this is a fantastic pack!

This texture pack is called CuteCraft. It may not be finished yet, but it is damn well fantstic! From the items to the the cobblestone, the zombies to the pigs, the kawaii-ness of the pack is almost, but not quite, overwhelming. I love how everything fits together, although the grass could be improved, sorry. Although I love the white wood and the sunflowers.

One of my favourites is Mixcraft – BlacknGold, with its semi-realistic pack. I really like the wood as well, and the cobblestone. I really like the inside of the logs, and the inside of the cactus. The one thing I don’t like are the gold and iron blocks, because the iron looks like corrugated sheet metal, and the gold just looks like gold bricks. the water is a bit repetitive, but I like how it tiles.

As mentioned above ^^^ at the start, Girlcraft will be mentioned in on this page. The absolutely superb colouring, tiling, and all-round girly-ness is amazing. This will hopefully bring out a couple of those female Minecraft players (like mwa) to admit they play MC. I absolutely love the watermelon-pumpkins, and adore how the wood has turned pink, with rainbow diamond blocks.
